Run-In With the Scattered Trees…Random As Shit
On a more personal note…
I had a truly ironic run-in last night with members of Chicago-based band the Scattered Trees, who had just completed their performance at the Rockwood Music Hall. Originally en route to the show, I was disappointed to find that I had missed the Scattered Trees on my return to Manhattan from an art gallery in downtown Brooklyn.
I turned my sights on the charming Lower East Sides bars and their tempting $3 Pabst Blue Ribbons.
While stopping for a slice at Rosario’s Pizza on the corner of Stanton and Houston Street, vocalist/guitarist Nate Eiesland, keyboardist Alissa Eiesland and bassist Ryne Estwing all popped in. We invited the Windy City trio to join us at our table, where they discussed the show and their New York City vibes. There were even a few jokes about the Star Wars costumes they donned for their latest music video, to be released. You can catch some pictures of the music video film session on Nate Eiesland’s blog.
Having completed an interview with frontman Nate Eiesland less than two weeks ago, in addition to listening to their latest album Sympathy all week, I was fresh on the Scattered Trees’ history. This all wasn’t enough to prevent me from introducing them as the “Screaming Trees” to my friends. (I had one too many PBR’s so don’t hate.)
By the way, the new album, due out April 5th, is absolutely, mind-blowingly good.
The Trees are scheduled for a photo-shoot in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn today, actually not far from the Hot Hot Music headquarters.
This article was not intended to provide any particularly relevant news on the Scattered Trees, but rather a slice of my interesting evening. Stay tuned for their new album this spring and keep reading Hot Hot Music for more updates!
