New My Morning Jacket Album Circuital, Downloads To Be Released

March 7, 2011

Louisville rockers My Morning Jacket recently released the title of their upcoming album and sixth studio release, Circuital, which will have at least one track available for free download in less than two months.

Jim James and company are setting their sights high in 2011.

Prior to the release of the album’s first single are free downloads cut from the live recordings of the band’s epic, five-day performance set at Terminal 5 in New York City last October. The band performed each of their previous albums in their entirety each night in what was one of the most unforgettable “album string shows” since Wilco battled through its entire catalog in five shows, through six nights at Chicago’s Riviera Theater.

One song will be released each week for five weeks, climaxing with the first single release in week six. The single is entitled “Holdin’ on to Black Metal.”

The Terminal 5 downloads will be made available on MMJ’s website.

After recording 2008’s Evil Urges in Manhattan, the southern gentlemen returned to their roots, cutting tracks for their latest effort in Nashville, Tennessee and their hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. While the live, Terminal 5 tracks provide an ample appetizer to Circuital, the new album is somewhat of a “live session” itself.

The five-piece laid down many of the tracks in a live fashion, set up in a circle inside an old, church gymnasium. (hence, the album title) An early album review is available thanks to the lucky bastards at Rolling Stone.

The band is positioned for a busy summer of touring and appearances. An updated tour schedule is available below:
