Ottawa Bluesfest Lineup Completed
This week we received a reminder that our neighbors to the North can party just as hard as Americans any day.
One of Canada’s largest music festivals, the Ottawa Bluesfest has been bringing live music from across the globe to the scenic banks of the Ottawa River. Once againm the LeBreton Flats will play host to a plethora of mind-blowing musicians and bands this July for marathon-like 13 days of entertainment.
This year’s festivities take place July 5-17.
(And we thought enduring a four-day music fest was daunting.)
While packing enough artists into 13 days may seem like a challenge at first, Bluesfest makes it seem like there just ain’t enough time of day. This year’s schedule includes appearances by a recently reunited Soundgarden and the rare rock spectacle A Perfect Circle.
And that’s just the beginning…
Bootsy Collins, Steve Miller Band, My Morning Jacket, Ra Ra Riot, John Fogerty, Chali 2na, Cheap Trick, Wanda Jackson, The Flaming Lips, The Black Keys, Peter Frampton, Girl Talk and Buddy Guy round out the top of a mountain of shows.
The festival, which began in 1994 as a one-stage/three-day showcase, has grown exponentially, all the while attracting some of the world’s most sought-after acts in its seventeen year history. Performances by KISS, Jeff Beck, Bob Dylan, The White Stripes and George Thorogood have all gone down in the celebration’s lore.
This level of consistency earned the festival a spot in Billboard Magazine’s rankings of the top 10 music festivals in the world.
Although the festival is commuter-oriented, the city of Ottawa offers multitudes of camping opportunities. More information can be found here.
