Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax Schedule Yankee Stadium Show
When Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax united for a concert in Indio, California last week, the metal gods were sending angels from across the universe to witness. For the first time in 30 years and first ever on American soil, these four bands shared the same stage in a showcase of hard rock elitism.
Over 55,000 witnesses saw a seven-hour face melting of thrash metal, which concluded with an all-for-one performance of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil?”
East Coast metal heads who were absent from this sacred concert received their chance at redemption today when it was announced that the four-piece would be visiting New York for a special encore showing. The new Yankee Stadium in the Bronx will play host to the bands Wednesday, September 14th.
Earning a reputation as “The Big Four,” these hard-rock heavyweights are reviving one of metal’s most glorious ages in a unified, marketable concert appearance. Opportunities like this, to scope the music of an entire era in one sitting, is tremendously epic and rare.
Tickets go on sale THIS FRIDAY, MAY 6th at 10 A.M.!
You can purchase them via Ticketmaster.com.
Some speculation points to added dates for the Big Four, although no other shows have been scheduled.
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich threw in a teaser at the closure of the Indio concerts, stating that the performance was the “first” of Big Four shows in America. Granted, with the consideration of the Yankee Stadium show, he is technically right…
That would be a pretty metal joke.
