Radiohead Performing on Colbert Report
Radiohead is ready to do the modern day New York City run-around.
The band has been slated to perform on the season-opening episode of Saturday Night Live on September 24, 2011, but the brakes haven’t been punched. Now, the band has announced its intention on making a special, four song performance on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report.” To justify just how special this is, this will be the program’s first hour-long presentation.
The performance will also feature the debut of the band’s newest, unreleased track, “The Daily Mail.” Wow. So Colbert got the debut and SNL just gets an appearance? What does THAT say about today’s television performance stage? Not only that, but members of the band will participate in an INTERVIEW with Colbert.
“I look forward to meeting the Radioheads and leveraging their anti-corporate indie cred to raise brand awareness for my sponsors,” croaked Colbert.
Stephen Colbert is crafting quite the reputation for himself amongst the youth music audience, inviting guest appearances by the likes of Gorillaz, The Black Keys, Florence + the Machine, Jack White, OK Go and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
Now, Britain’s greatest modern musical triumph is prepared to become the pinnacle of the satirical news show’s music segments.
And Stephen Colbert is prepared to become the Godfather of all that rocks and most that rolls.
