Drake on SNL October 15
With 2011 turning to its final quarter, there is arguably no artist that faces greater anticipation for a final bang quite like rapper Drake.
The Canadian born superstar is preparing to release his second album, Take Care, which is co-produced by the great Stevie Wonder. It will have to be a wonder to top his first album Thank Me Later, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 charts in its first week, supported by some of 2010’s most unforgettable tracks, such as “Over” and “Fancy.” Not only that, but his work on the single “Forever” with Eminem, Kanye West and Lil Wayne was easily one of 2009’s hottest tracks.
Now, news has surfaced that the rapper will be taking the stage at the historic Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center, performing on Saturday Night Live as part of the October 15th episode. The airing falls a convenient nine days before the album release.
No doubt some songs may see their worldwide debut that night.
Actress Anna Farris is scheduled to handle hosting duties.
In other news, Lady Antebellum [Oct. 1] and Foster the People [Oct. 8] are also confirmed musical guests for SNL’s 35th season.
That said, here is our all-time favorite SNL performance.
